Incorporating Voice Threads in the Classroom WS Activity 1.3

Have you ever heard of Voice threads? Me either, until today! Voice threads are videos or clips that include sound. They can be used for almost anything! The voice thread I chose focuses on Poetry in the classroom. Follow this link to browse the many different voice threads you can view voicethread.com.

This voice thread is from an Elementary School classroom that observed their day to day weather and then created poetry from their observations. Along with the poetry they also created pictures. As you go through the slides they are narrated. The students can hear what they wrote. I think this is such a great tool for the reading classroom or really any classroom. These voice threads can be used for reader's theater. The students can create their own story and illustrate it or they can use a story that is provided and act out while they are reading. Their voices can be recorded and then they can hear themselves. I think this is a great way for students to share their work.
